The 2022 non-formal school vision in Armavir, Armenia, explores education through the relationship between landscape, circulation and architectural space. Developed in cooperation with HG Design Studio, the concept responds to the meeting of green areas and dry terrain within the selected site.
Reading the site through green connections
The source describes green rivers connecting the eastern and western banks of the site. These landscape connections inform the question of what architectural unit belongs there. The proposal approaches the school as part of a wider pattern, with the green paths offering a way to bring life into the dry setting.
Learning along the contour lines
Respect for the site’s contour lines helps shape the educational spaces. The vision uses changes in level to expose those spaces to a green artery and connect outdoor areas with internal learning environments. Circulation becomes part of the student experience rather than simply a route between rooms.
A place for events and gathering
The event center is positioned in the concept to face important landmarks identified in the caption as the Ararat and Aragat mountains. Outdoor steps form an amphitheater for external festivals, adding a gathering space to the proposed educational program.
Extending the meaning of a school
The publication describes children as a community’s hope and links the proposal with the innovative educational direction associated with COAF. The intended school experience extends across classrooms, outdoor spaces, landscape routes and collective events.
This Armavir project presents a vision of non-formal education shaped by context. Its 2022 designation and cooperation with HG Design Studio remain part of the original project record; the article develops the landscape and learning relationships described in that source.
